A new champion of popping

Here is our latest winner who just got her Orsome cheque. BubblePRO is a game that Sara keeps coming back to, and it payed off when she was still top of the ladder at the end of the year. Well done !

Meet Speedy Gonzalaz

This is our latest winner in the popular BubblePRO competition. He comes from Puerto Rico, and he tells us his secret to his amazing score was:

He managed to get a score of 334, and for his effort he was given the US$250 cash prize. BubblePRO is one of the only apps out here that can make you real money. We've reset the high score chart and will again be giving away prize money, This time the competition will run through till the end of March, and all scores submitted before then are eligible to take away the prize.

Some has asked if there is any change of beating these PRO players, and you will be happy to know you don't have to. Previous winners are not eligible for future competitions, so its fair for the new players too. Have fun, and a great 2012 to you all.

Another winner gets some Orsome cash

Even though we don't mention it nearly as often as we should. We are still running the monthly competitions for the top prize in our BubblePRO game. Every month we give away cash, and again this last month we had Gary from Florida take out the best score, and get his $100US payout. Here's what he had to say. "Ok first i have being playing this game for a while and i just play for fun but with practice my score was improving. When I receive the email from Orsome I was like "Wow this couldnt be true". To be honest at that moment I couldn't believe that I would get the prize. He send me the prize very fast. One of the best games that i got in my iphone :D"

We have a tie

It was a very close competition this month with two players sharing the $US250 prize pool. We can tell you one of the winners is from Canada, and the other was David, from the Gold Coast in Australia, who tells us this secret: "Relaxing is the key to Winning"

Latest prize goes to UK

Another year has kicked off, and what better way to start it than some giveaways. First Orsome had to pass on some iTunes credit to a long time player, who is often in the top ten, but hasn't yet taken out the #1 spot. Congrats Zac. Then on the stroke of midnight we had Tuan and his 8 year old cousin Michelle take out the US$200 prize for a massive effort getting 324 points, just one above the previous champ. Good work!

For January we have upped the prize a bit to US$250, so give it another try, and this month it may be you taking away some cash.

It has been a while since we told you about some of the winners in the BubblePRO competitions so here is an update. First here is last months recipient:

Mr. Orsome, Thank you very much I got the money as you promised. I have attached a picture that you may use if you like. I would also like to say I was very skeptical at first whether or not this game was legitimate, (as in does it really give a prize if you win). I first bought this game July 2009 and couldn't even get over 200 points at first, but like most 16 year olds I had a lot of time on my hands and just kept playing. A year later I'm $100 dollars richer! I tried to have a friend help me play but our fingers would just get in each others way so I kept playing by myself. People think girls have slow reflexes but I guess that's not always true! Thanks again for a great game! - Sandy

Another young BubblePRO Prize

Its always nice to be able to hand out prizes, and this week it was Zach from Australia who took out the award for the best BubblePRO score. We handed him US$250 for his efforts and re writes:

The only reason I had started played this game because I had been sick that month and that's all I had played for 15 hours straight, and it turns out I had scored high enough to win !

We have just had another winner in BubblePRO. As if all their Golds they just scored weren't enough, We have Anthony from Canada taking out the top prize of US$250. Well done!

Anthony writes: As for my secret, well, I really don't have one. I was shown BubblePRO last month by a friend of mine. He knew I had fast reflexes, and told me I could win some prizes. On my first try, I got 246. Realising that I was only 60 points away from the top, I decided to purchase this app on my own iPod.

I'm not saying it was easy to make it to the top, though. I spent nearly 2 hours just making it into the top 10, and another 3 beating the first place competitor. All in all, I'm proud of myself for making it this far. I'd like to thank you for making such an awesome app.

Well, last night saw the end of our second competition for the year, another US$500 goes out to a champion popper. I hope to get a picture of the winner for you soon, but in the meantime, we've started another game. This one runs through till Valentines day.

Update to Bubblewrap on its way

Our most popular app is about to have an update. It has a full set of new graphics and will also be localized for all the French speaking bubble poppers out there. ( a sidenote: In NZ, we spell localized with an 's' but I've localised it here for our american readers )

We are just in the process of making sure there are no bugs in there before we set it free to you all. One thing we would like to make sure of is that our translations are accurate. If there is a French user out there that would like to be a beta tester for us, send us a message on our support mailbox support@orsome.co.nz and we will get you a copy to test.

Even if you can't speak that lingo, we would be happy to have a few more people playing with this latest version to make sure all is well. The logic regarding the 2x bonus has changed a bit. For those loyal followers that bother reading this blog in its entirety, we have a tip for you. The chance of getting the 2x bonus points is increased the quicker you touch it after it gets inflated. See how you go with that. You might also like to have another play with BubblePRO, there is less than a week now before we give away another $500 cold hard US cash.

Just two more days to win huge prize

We have only just paid out Suzie Vang from California for winning our previous BubblePRO competition with her score of 298. It was nice to hear the prize money comes at a good time for her as she is expecting a new baby in January, congratulations! She sent us this quote.

Congratulations go out to our youngest winner.

Fourteen year old Nathan from Australia has made it to the leaderboard several times, and this week he was still holding the top spot when the competition closed Tuesday. He's just received his US$250 prize and tells us his Mum didn't believe he would actually win anything, but he sure has proved her wrong. Well done lad!

Is everyone having fun?

Well, the new BubbleWrap app got through to the appStore this week, and we can see many of you have grabbed the new version. We like to make sure everyone is 'happiness filled' and although we haven't had any problems reported to us directly, we've been scouring thru the various apple stores around the world, and can see a couple of you out there have had issues with the new version crashing. If any of you have experienced this problem, could you mail us and we'll endevour to get to the bottom of the issue for you. Needless to say, we've been unable to fault it ourselves.

Eagle eyed players will see what score they will need to get, to have a chance at the BubblePRO prize. We're giving away another US$250 Monday, so go get busy.

See your name in lights

The BubblePRO scoreboard has been reworked, so now shows only the best score from each player in the current competition. This means it will be more likely you will get to submit your own scores into the table.

Last week we gave away $US250 to Brett out in Auburn, USA, then straight away we started a new competition, and the prize is $US500 this time! Get out the old BubblePRO now and give it a go, the prize will be handed out on Aug 11th.

Those of you that are enjoying the free BubbleWRAP game have not been forgotten either, there are now more than SIX MILLION of you that have downloaded that classic, and we've put together an update for you that adds a bit of polish, and has been fully tested on the latest iPhones. We have had our first winner from Great Britain today, and what a week to take out the prize! We have eMailed him to let him know, but I'm guessing he's still asleep over that side of the world. He'll be waking up US$1000 richer. Way to go Fraser for getting 316 points in this latest competition.

A thousand reasons why you want to play BubblePRO

New Version of BubblePRO is out

The latest version of BubblePRO is out. You should all get the upgrade to ensure your scores can be included in the games each week. A few people have eMailed us, concerned the prizes have gone away. You have nothing to worry about, Its our accountant who is the one that has to worry. While there are bubbles to pop, there is cash to give away :-)

Due to new conditions of the AppStore, I can no longer advertise the prize money within the app itself, but there is a link within the program that takes you to a page that shows what promotion is running for the current competition. The top scorer at the end of this weekend will get US$200, and we intend to carry on with cash prizes going forward, cause lets face it, who doesn't want a bit of extra mular.

Currently we have a player from Austria leading with a score of 301, one point under that, is Hong Kong, then Denmark and the United States not far behind. In fact, its lining up to be one of the closest races yet, with only 5 points separating the top 5 scores. One extra bonus bubble will make all the difference.

We have just given away another US$500 in our popular BubblePRO competition. This week we send off the prize to Luis in America. Once we get a photo from him we'll setup a wall of fame for the 10 winners we've had to date.

Apparently we're in the midst of a world-wide financial crisis, and after this promotion, I expect our accountant will be thinking it has caught up with Orsome Software too !

Leveling the playing field in BubblePro...

There is an update for the BubblePro app filtering thru the appStore now. It should address the issue where some players were getting extended play time, and as a result, very high scores.

Once we have everyone across to the new version we will again be raising the stakes in the prize pool. Check it out soon, then check it out often. There's money in them there bubbles...

BubbleWrap around the world...

Today we received these photos taken from an orphanage in Thailand. This group of children, that live near the River Hwai bridge, are amongst those from all over the world, that find BubbleWrap "strangely compelling". I'm not sure of the score they get, but I reckon this must be a case of many hands make light work.

I can't even see the iPhone under all those active fingers, but I'm told BubbleWrap gives them hours of fun, though it seems the screen is left a bit sticky. :-)

iTunes top picks...

Apple have published their pick of the apps for 2008, and we are chuffed to see Bubblewrap has been given the honour of being named one of the 10 top free entertainment products of the year.

We figured it was one of the more popular ones out there once our download count passed the 1.5 million mark this last month. Based on some figures we have got on usage, we can tell you that on every second, of every hour, of every day, there are about 200 bubbles being popped. If people are using this as stress relief, its nice to know the world is becoming a happier / less stressed place because of this wee app :-)

Many of you have also discovered, you can put these popping skills to good use. If you want more of a challenge than BubbleWrap then maybe you should look at its commercial brother, BubblePro. We're still giving away 100's of dollars to those that top the high score chart in this app each week. It costs just 99c on the appStore, and then you're in with a chance to win, and our list of prize winners just keeps on growing. Go get it now, the top score today is 274, Can you beat that?

More prizes to the USA

This week the top prize of US$200 went to Jasmine Simpson with a high score of 491. At Orsome, we cant see how you guys are getting crazy scores like this, and after asking Jasmine how she did it, it seems she doesnt know either! She writes: "I just got the game the night I won, and I wasn't really paying attention to my score; then I realised I was first and had won!"

Just to make things clear

Three weeks down the road, it's about time we spelt out a few rules... Entry to the competition is open to anyone, except staff and family, or contractors to Orsome Software, or previous winners of prizes from us. The prize shall be paid in US Dollars by either a US Cheque, Paypal or International wire. Orsome Software will cover the fees to initiate the transfer, but not meet any costs your bank or PalPal may take for their services. Scores are only accepted that are submitted via the latest version of the BubblePro application. Orsome's decision is final, no correspondence will be entered into. Winners may provide names/photos & quotes that may be used in promotional material including our web site.

We realise that the winners to date have been getting higher scores than we ever expected in this program. We have gone to great lengths to try to make this game as fair as possible. Everyone has the same version of the app and the same chance to take out the prize. We are near completion of an updated version of BubblePro that should even out the playing field a little more. In the meantime, keep honing your tapping skills and have fun!

Tony got a crazy 455 this week, narrowly beating, Tony on 454, just a few points more than Tony who has 450 and Tony, and Tony... Hey, wait a minute, This fella is a popping fanatic! I think we need to see a video from this guy :-) In the meantime, Your prize is on the way. Congratulations.

Johnny Marshall from the USA takes out the $500 prize in our first competition. Its a ridiculously high score I know, I've never had half of that myself, I believe you just tap like mental to get there, So, get popping again, a new competition has kicked off that will run just for four days this time. Go get busy.

Just a couple more days before someone wins US$500

The first competition is really getting exciting now. For a while it looked like it was going to be a three way tie, but now we have a few people that have discovered the way to score big ! If you are quick enough to keep pop the last available button, you will get two points, and if you can keep up with the rate they keep coming back, you could possibly get two points every pop. I've not been able to do this myself, I'm wondering if those big scorers are having a friend watch half the screen or something. See if you can figure it out.

The New Pro game also rewards accuracy, with a bonus after enough consecutive clean pops. If you did the centre of an already popped bubble, you will lose a point. But I'm guessing you learnt that pretty quickly. There is still that random element to give you the 5x bubbles which means anyone can win. Good luck, and have fun!

The new app 'BubblePro' is at the AppStore now. Its like BubbleWrap, with a few more improvements to the way it scores, including a new backend server to keep track of how you rate on an international scale. There will always been a competition running, and this week, the prize is $500 Cash!

We get a lot of mail from you guys, we appreciate the feedback, and try to respond to them all promptly. By far the biggest request we get is for an addition to our giveaway BubbleWrap program. This app continues to surprise us, being download over 130,000 times this last week.

It turns out its the centre of several inter-office competitions, but people have trouble proving the scores they have made. So we've added in a high score chart, improved the graphics and sound some more, and even added in a touch of animation. We've tried to keep it as simple as it is, cause lets face it, How complicated is a sheet of bubbles!

The icon has been tweaked a little too, It felt appropriate to give it a bit of a "Pop Art" feel. The updated version should appear on the AppStore soon, and yes, Its still free. :-) Enjoy
